This Weekend: Cincinnati Craft Brewers’ Oktoberfest

80

Don’t put those steins away just yet, because festival season isn’t over. This weekend marks the third annual Cincinnati Craft Brewers’ Oktoberfest at Listermann Brewing Company in Evanston, where they’ll tap more than 50 beers from 15 regional breweries. There will also be live music, food vendors, a life-sized foosball game, and other activities from local German organization Cincideutsch.

Listermann just released the official beer list, and it’s stacked with local ales and lagers of every style, color, and alcohol level. On Saturday at noon, every brewery will tap a keg or cask of a rare beer, and Triple Digit will be tapping a different version of Chickow! (their 10% ABV hazelnut double brown ale) every hour, on the hour.

Personally, I can’t wait to try Blank Slate’s special pin (a 5.4 gallon cask) of Fumar Chile, a smoked porter they put in the cask with chili peppers and hickory syrup, then sealed off until Saturday’s rare tapping; the Hoser gose (an old-world German wheat beer flavored with coriander and sea salt) from the new Old Firehouse Brewery in Clermont County; and of course this year’s Oktoberfest from Listermann, which will be tapped at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Cincinnati Craft Brewers’ Oktoberfest, Friday, October 10, 5 p.m. – midnight; Saturday, October 11, noon – 11 p.m.; Listermann Brewing Company, 1621 Dana Ave., Evanston, listermannbrewing.com; Dog- and family-friendly, no cost to attend (pay by beer/taste).
