Drink to Music and History at the Slippery Noodle Inn

162

Its name may sound like the dish no one touches at Thanksgiving, but trust us, The Slippery Noodle Inn is one of Indy’s slickest institutions—and one of the premier blues bars in the country. Located on the outskirts of downtown, the bar proudly hosts live blues every night of the week. Wednesday night is open mic, and you’ll more than likely be graced with some of the city’s best blues talent. Having the distinction of oldest bar in Indiana comes with perks—and stories. The establishment was a key player in the Underground Railroad, disguised itself as a restaurant during Prohibition despite still serving beer, temporarily closed its doors due to a knife-wielding jealous lover, and has an impressive 100-year-old oak counter and tin ceilings. It’s like an American History textbook that serves alcohol. The blues deserves no less. slipperynoodle.com
