Good Luck: Week 8 NFL Picks

67

It was another rough round of picking games for me last week. I went 5-8, dropping below .500 for the season. And that 5-8 record probably looks better than my actual picks. I took the Titans (-3.5) over the Texans. Tennessee lost 41-7. I picked the Colts (+14.5) to cover against the Saints. Indianapolis lost 62-7. I picked the Raiders (-4.5) over the Chiefs, and Oakland lost 28-0. Their quarterbacks threw six interceptions. It was an ugly week.

This week, I’m busy with some other obligations around the office; I’m getting the picks up a day late; and I feel too confused about most of the teams in the NFL to say anything with much certainty. Thus, I’m going to cut out the explanations and just make the picks. Unless this angers anyone, I might stick with it going forward.

Jaguars (+10.5) over Texans
Cardinals (+13.5) over Ravens
Saints (-13.5) over Rams
Giants (-10.5) over Dolphins
Titans (-9.5) over Colts
Vikings (+3.5) over Panthers
Bills (-6.5) over Redskins
Lions (-2.5) over Broncos
Steelers (+2.5) over Patriots
49ers (-9.5) over Browns
Cowboys (+3.5) over Eagles
Chargers (-3.5) over Chiefs

Seahawks (+1.5) over Bengals — Cincinnati has struggled on the left coast before, and Seattle is one of the toughest places to play in the league, regardless of time zone. Cedric Benson is suspended, meaning Bernard Scott gets the call against the Seahawks’ stout run defense. This feels like a trap game for the Bengals. Obviously, I’m taking the Seahawks to win straight up, too. 21-17.

Record last week: 5-8
Record overall: 50-53
Record picking Bengals games against the spread: 3-3
Record picking Bengals games straight up: 2-4
