To paraphrase Duke Ellington, it don’t mean a thang if it ain’t got that tang. Fans of Yagööt flock to the Busken-owned company’s five area locations (including Rookwood) for soft serve with a tart twist. “What sets us apart from ice cream is that it’s not ice cream,” says general manager Emily Shinkle. Yagööt is live-active cultured frozen yogurt with probiotics that is gluten-free and 99 percent fat free. “That one gram of fat in each serving is what gives Yagööt its creamy taste,” she says. Original and strawberry flavors are always available and are buttressed seasonally by the likes of banana, Italian cocoa, mango, and coconut. And the topping choices (which are off the hook) include fresh fruit prepped daily as well as Busken’s signature Alligator Crunch—baked cashews, coconut, and brown sugar.
