Flub’s Darri-Ette

98

Up in Hamilton, right across Eaton Avenue from the six fields occupied this time of year by West Side Little League—the league that’s sent four teams to the Little League World Series in the past two decades—sits the curiously named Flub’s Darri-Ette. Could it be that those teams were fueled by the homemade soft-serve, sherbet, Italian ices, and cyclones dished out under the pink-and-white-striped awning at Flub’s? It’s possible. (Let us dream, OK?) Michael “Flub” Connaughton and his wife Ann started the place back in 1964, and their son Brian runs it now. There’s a second location in Fairfield’s Village Green Shopping Center, and you can get through the off-season by picking up Flub’s sherbet at the Fairfield Kroger. That’s a home run.  997 Eaton Ave., Hamilton, (513) 896-6696; 530 Wessel Dr., Fairfield, (513) 939-3582, flubsicecream.com
