What is your design background?
I am fully self-taught. I was a pre-med student, and I dropped out. I work in finance now, and just wanted to have fun with design and fashion.
How’d you get into designing?
I started just making my own clothes. I loved altering and tailoring, and then I was tailoring clothes. I was like, Wait a second, two pieces of fabric, a seam, I can just make my own clothes rather than buy them.
Is there any fashion work that you’re currently doing, or any collections you’re developing at the moment?
I am working on a collaboration, titled Requiem of a Broken Valentine, with a hair designer called Hair With Grace. It’s going to be a fun little drag queen, dark, Valentine-esque collaboration that we’re working on. I’m also currently in the middle of designing a full collection for Valentine’s Day, called Lost in Love. It’ll be showcased at the February edition of Reclaimed Runways. It’s going to be inspired by the essence of the addiction of falling in and out of love with yourself and losing yourself and falling in love with somebody else.

How would you describe your design style?
I would say very avant-garde, maximalist, and very climactic.
If someone wanted to buy or commission your work, where would they be able to do that?
I have a page on Instagram, just reach out. Any piece I make for any runway is always open for any type of purchase. We also can make any type of thing you have in mind. Almost all my pieces on my actual main page on Instagram, which is linked to my fashion Instagram, are also up for purchase.
Anything else you think people should know about you as a designer?
STMT may look intimidating in that every piece may not be what you wear in your current wardrobe. However, we love going over the top and working with each individual client as a whole. So whatever that looks like for you, whether it’s just a traditional garment being tailored to your body, or even the most avant-garde over-the-top type of garment, we’re always here to fulfill a vision.
