Urbana Cafe to Open Price Hill Location
Urbana Cafe is heading to the West Side. The coffee shop fave begins construction on its latest location at 3114 Warsaw Avenue in Price Hill this month. Daniel Noguera, Urbana’s founder and president, says the spot has an expected opening date of late summer or early fall.
Bourbon Blending Experiences Coming to Downtown
Willow Run Custom Bourbon is set to open downtown later this year (at the corner of Seventh and Walnut Streets), where it will offer “blending experiences” in which consumers can create their own blends tailored to their tastes.
Jose Salazar Named James Beard Finalist
This week, Jose Salazar of Mita’s was named a finalist in the “Best Chef: Great Lakes Region” category in the James Beard Foundation’s 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards. Mita’s was the no. 1 restaurant on our Best Restaurants list in March 2023.
“Singers & Spirits” on April 11
The last “Singers & Spirits” event leading up to the 2024 Cincinnati Opera Summer Festival will take place on Thursday, April 11, at Alcove in Over-the-Rhine. Have a drink or two and enjoy some arias by Cincinnati Opera artists along with fellow opera lovers. Admission is $20 and includes a beverage (non-alcoholic options are available), the performance, and a Q&A session with the artists.
Toque d’Argent Celebration Dinner on April 16
To honor the late Jean-Robert de Cavel receiving the Toque d’Argent Award (a lifetime achievement from the Maitres Cuisiniers de France USA) late last fall, the de Cavel Group will host an original five-course menu from the gone-but-not-forgotten classic, Jean-Robert at Pigall’s. The dinner, featuring Chef Todd Westermeyer (formerly of Maisonette and Jean-Robert at Pigall’s), is $185 per person (plus $65 for wine pairings) and takes place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, at Le Bar à Boeuf in East Walnut Hills. Oakley Kitchen Food Hall Adds New Tenants
Last month, Oakley Kitchen Food Hall added two new tenants: Ruthless Pizza Co. and Herban Vegans. Ruthless Kitchen took over the former Balboa’s space while Herban Vegans moved in after a residency with Findlay Market’s Findlay Launch Storefront Accelerator program a few years ago.
