A passionate flower-lover, Mindy Staton opened Two Little Buds floral shop in Hamilton in 2004 alongside her mom, Alice Stone Francis. The business blossomed to new heights in 2015 with the launch of Morning Sun Flower Farm, giving brides the unique opportunity to source their wedding flowers—including daffodils, poppies, larkspur, sunflowers, and dahlias, depending on the season—directly from Staton’s local farm.
The business flourished once again in 2016 when Staton partnered with longtime friend and fellow Oxford native Rachel Pfeiffer to open Lane & Kate, what Pfeiffer calls a “botanical jewelry shop,” in the heart of Over-the-Rhine.
The dual-concept boutique boasts custom jewelry, purses, candles, and other gifty goods from Lane & Kate, while Two Little Buds stocks the store with plants, a flower bar, and a secondary meeting space for bridal appointments. It’s an efficient shopping experience for brides-to-be, says Staton, because “Rachel specializes in custom wedding bands, so they’ll come to her first, and then after they get engaged they’ll start thinking about flowers.”
