Cincinnati Food + Wine Classic

201

And you thought chili was all our city has to offer. Donna Covrett and Courtney Tsitouris, cofounders of City Stories Media and the new Cincinnati Food + Wine Classic, have cooked up an event to showcase local and regional talent. The two-day festival will feature tastings, book signings, cooking demonstrations, and discussion panels with top culinary professionals. “A portion of the Grand Tasting celebrates our Porkopolis heritage,” explains Covrett, a former dining editor at Cincinnati Magazine. “Twenty chefs will prepare pork dishes and vie for the title of Boss Hog.” A winner will be crowned by a judging panel of industry insiders: Cincinnati native and Saveur senior editor Keith Pandolfi, Andrew Knowlton of Bon Appétit, and Francis Lam from Top Chef Masters. The event takes place in and around Washington Park, embracing the “wow factor” Covrett and Tsitouris feel Over-the-Rhine offers. “We want to dazzle our guests—incoming chefs, personalities, and ticket buyers—with our beautiful, walkable community,” says Covrett. And with the amount of first-class food planned, walking sounds like a pretty good idea.
