Get Lost: Three Ohio Corn Mazes

2003

Now that fall has officially arrived, it’s time to get out and enjoy the cooler air, warmer colors, and all the lovely local farms Ohio has to offer. Located a little more than an hour north of Cincinnati, these three farms have fabulous corn mazes and fall activities galore.

Tom’s Maze & Pumpkin Farm
The eight-acre maze is intended to be more than a stroll through a field—it’s designed be a real challenge. Twelve puzzle pieces are hidden in mailboxes that are placed throughout the three miles of maze paths. Colors on the puzzle pieces coordinate with the ribbons marking the paths, so those who solve the puzzle can escape the maze. In addition to the corn maze, visitors can take a train ride around the farm, watch the live goats scamper across their “Boardwalk” playground, experience the 25-foot-long “Punkin’ Chunkin’ Cannon,” and pick up some pumpkins to bring home to add some fall decor to their doorsteps. Not done with the fun? Stay after-hours with the campfire package—pack some hot dogs and s’mores and enjoy a private campfire with your crew. 4677 Germantown Liberty Rd., Germantown, (937) 866-2777

Apple Country Farm & Corn Maze
Nine quiz stations throughout the field will give you a chance to escape: A correctly answered question will be rewarded with a clue to help you on your way through the 12-acre maze. Those who want to up their difficulty level can also take part in “Maize-o-poly”—a scavenger hunt through the maze that gives participants the opportunity to win some cash and even receive the honorable title of “Farmer of the EAR.” Small children who aren’t ready for the big leagues can test out their skills in the free Straw Maze, after which all are invited to visit the barn animals, take a hayride, paint a pumpkin, and fire the corn cannon at a target. Before heading home, stop by the farm market to pick up some fresh produce to bring some seasonal goods to your table. 2323 U.S. Route 42, Spring Valley, (937) 862-4376

Today’s Harvest Farm
The 2015 corn maze is themed after “The Big Bang Theory” television show, with the show title carved out in the center of the maze. Checkpoints throughout the field will help you along the way—and if you find all 18, plus the six hidden ones, you’ll win a free cider slushy or hot chocolate, coffee, or cider from the farm. Little ones can run around the train play area or join the adults in a game of putt-putt or corn hole. Visit the Country Store to pick up decor, candles, or soaps, as well as a jar of honey made in hives right on the property and some real country fruit pies. Finish the day picking out a pumpkin as a souvenir, as well as Today’s Harvest Farm’s bright and beautiful mums. U.S. 40 & State Route 320, New Paris, (937) 877-6030
