California-style seafood take on tartine is not the kind of thing you’d expect to write home about, but this version will make you pull out your smartphone to capture its beauty. A hefty mound of flaky smoked whitefish—topped with a generous helping of fresh radish, dill, and pickled kohlrabi—sits on halved slices of thick-cut Allez bread. The chilled protein, paired with warm toast, makes for one satisfying bite after another.

The smoked whitefish tartine is just one of a dozen trendy lunch menu items at the Ferrari brothers’ new restaurant, Fausto at the CAC, based in the Contemporary Arts Center’s café. Best downed with a glass of house rosé (also made by the brothers), it’s the actually filling avocado toast alternative you didn’t know you needed in your life.
