Cinsei Opens in Larger Space Tomorrow
Black-owned manga-and-matcha café Cinsei opens in a new space at 32 E. 13th Street in Over-the-Rhine at 10 a.m. tomorrow, April 4. The 895-square-foot space is located in Cincinnati Center City Development Corp. (3CDC)’s Columbia Flats project, across from HomeMakers Bar. The café opened in a temporary space at OTR’s Yard & Co. on Pleasant Street near Liberty Street last summer and quickly became a favorite among the city’s Japanophiles. In addition to roasted green tea and a latte blend of matcha in various flavors, the new spot will offer pastries, cupcakes, muffins, tarts, and matcha cookies as well as non-food items like Japanese stationery, manga, vinyl albums, and other Cinsei merch.

Lonely Pine Steakhouse to Reopen
Former Gorilla Cinema creation Lonely Pine Steakhouse is set to reopen this month under new management. The restaurant’s former chef, Madeline Sheblessy, took over as owner along with her partner Mike Riley and plans to open a “reimagined” version of the Pleasant Ridge steakhouse that will be “rooted in everything you’ve loved from the start,” the restaurant stated in an Instagram post. “Think midcentury Route 66 flavors, a little nostalgia, a little magic…and some beautiful new additions we can’t wait to share with you.” After seven years in business, the restaurant closed its doors last October.

A Tour of Africa Fundraiser
Afromeals is hosting the “Experience the Culture: A Tour of Africa” fund-raising event for its Afromeals Foundation beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 at Cincinnati Public Radio (2117 Dana Ave., Evanston). The event will support the foundation’s mission of providing culturally relevant food and nutrition education to underserved youth and families. The evening includes an African dance performance by Bi-Okoto and a cultural fashion show presented by Mary’s International Fashion. Tickets are $51.50 per person.

Two Graeter’s Fan Favorites Are Back

With a vanilla ice cream base and swirls of chocolate fudge and mini peanut butter cups, Flying Pig Tracks celebrates the annual Flying Pig Marathon, while Strawberry Chip’s in-season strawberries and dark chocolate chips mark the return of spring. Flying Pig Tracks is available this month only at local Graeter’s scoop shops or in pints online and Strawberry Chip through the end of May—while supplies last.
