Rooted Juicery Opens in Over-the-Rhine, Frosthaus rebrands to The Hum, MilkShake Factory opens its first tri-state location in Mason, and more.


Rooted Juicery Opens in OTR
Rooted Juicery, a “plant-based juice bar and kitchen offering a variety of vegan foods, cold-pressed juices, and a carefully curated retail collection,” is opening at 8 a.m. on today, May 30, at 1218 Vine Street in Over-the-Rhine. The juice bar brand, which changed ownership last February, will offer a variety of vegan food options and retail items.

Frosthaus Becomes The Hum
As of today, Covington’s Frosthaus, much loved for its German-style frozen and fruity cocktails, is reopening as The Hum. Named for the former Union, Light, Heat, & Power Co. building, the eatery will feature an expanded menu that includes some old favorites from the Frosthaus days. This soft opening will offer limited reservations and walk-ins available for the time being, with a grand opening taking place at a later date. Starting in mid-June, the former Eishaus ice cream walk-up window—located next door to the restaurant at 117 Park Place—will offer a selection of quick bites and drinks as well as a new twist on The Pocket, a favorite from the old menu.

MilkShake Factory Opens in Mason
Milkshake chain MilkShake Factory, known for hand-spun milkshakes and small-batch premium chocolates, will open its first Greater Cincinnati location on Saturday, May 31, at 2144 Kings Mills Road in Mason. To celebrate, all shakes, sundaes, and molten cups will be buy one, get one free from noon to 4 p.m. The event will feature a live deejay, free MilkShake Factory T-shirts for the first 100 guests, and a special prize basket for the first customer in line.

Pop-Up Opens at the CAC This Weekend
Starting June 1, a new restaurant is temporarily setting up shop in the lobby of the Contemporary Arts Center downtown. The Frank will serve coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch items from the menu at its Price Hill location, which just opened at 900 Stave Avenue last month. The Frank at CAC will be open Thursday and Friday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. through July 31.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Opens Second Location
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will open its second tri-state store from 7-11 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at 5200 District Park Drive in Mason. The first 50 customers in line will receive swag bags and five guests will win free ice cream for a year. Three new summer flavors— Pink Bubblegum, Toasted S’mores, and Root Beer Float—will be previewed at the event ahead of their official launch on Thursday, June 5.

Duffy’s Dough Founders in Town Next Week
Patrick Duffy (DALLAS, Step by Step, Man from Atlantis) and Linda Purl (Matlock, Happy Days, The Office) will make appearances from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at the Kroger Marketplace in Newport (130 Pavilion Parkway) and from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at the Kroger in Anderson Township (7580 Beechmont Avenue) to promote a new line of baked goods from sourdough starter company Duffy’s Dough. The couple founded the brand in 2022 based on a Duffy family recipe.

Churchill’s Fine Teas Hosts Grand Opening in Madisonville
Next week, Churchill’s Fine Teas launches in Madisonville with a grand opening event on Saturday, June 7, at 6709 Madison Road. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. and an open house from 10:30 a.m.-noon. The event will feature free samples of tea and dessert pairings from around the world. The Madville location takes the place of Churchill’s Hyde Park location, which closed permanently at the end of April.

Second Summer Bonus Flavor Released at Graeter’s
The second bonus ice cream flavor of the summer from Graeter’s is Beast Feast, inspired The Beast, the legendary Kings Island’s roller coaster. This new flavor— cookie butter ice cream is filled with sugar cookie dough and rainbow sprinkles—is available at Graeter’s shops by the scoop and in pints.
