Cincinnati is comprised of 52 diverse neighborhoods, ranging from family friendly suburban spots to downtown riverfront properties. Prospect Hill, a historic district located (literally on a hillside) in the Mt. Auburn neighborhood between Clifton and Over-the-Rhine, blends together urban and suburban life, and this historic three-story Milton Street home reaps the benefits of both.

Built in 1866, the three-bedroom, three-bath home (which was sale pending at press time) has aged well both inside and out, thanks to previous caretakers. “The home has had a handful of owners in its lifetime,” says listing agent Hillary Justice. “One still lives on the street! And each has put their little bit of love into the property.” From the outside, its charming brick façade is painted gray and features picturesque window boxes, plus a wrought iron fence in front.

Charming details continue inside. Step through the front door to admire an exposed brick wall to the right and floating staircase straight ahead. Next, drool over the sparkling white eat-in kitchen, complete with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, slate floor, and a farmhouse sink. Adjacent to the kitchen, the living room features built-in shelving, wood floor, and a brick fireplace, and walks out to sizeable deck with killer views of the city. “During baseball season you get a free fireworks show on Friday nights from Reds games,” Justice says.

Located on the second level, the master bathroom is our favorite room in the house because of its marble and tile floor, fireplace, and soaking tub that’s strategically positioned in front of three large windows overlooking Over-the-Rhine and downtown. The third-floor bedroom is also pretty impressive, with an abundance of natural light, sloped ceilings, more exposed brick, and access to a rooftop deck with additional skyline views.

Perhaps the home’s coolest perk is the detached two-car garage, complete with an above studio apartment, which previous owners have used as an AirBnB rental. This space could also double as an in-law suite, with hardwood floors, a full bathroom, sitting area, and microwave and mini fridge.

Outside, the backyard features a flowering magnolia tree, rock edging, and groomed shrubs, plus a covered patio, access to the garage, and, you guessed it, even more stellar views.
