Your kids probably jump, jive, and wail most days anyway, so they might as well do it in tandem with the Cincinnati Museum Center’s 1940s Weekend. The museum will host a classic car show, live music, dancing, 1940s hair and makeup demonstrations, and a range of exhibits and experts, including this writer’s favorite, a vintage comic book display courtesy of Up, Up, & Away, the self-proclaimed “world’s greatest comic book store,” located in Cheviot.
And there are two events on the schedule that your kids will definitely love: The 1940s Children’s Storybook Hour (at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. on Sunday) and the fifth annual Cincy Lindy Exchange, a riotous retro-style dance show that comes with a free dance lesson.
Admission is free for members, or you can purchase a combo pass that includes admission to the Cincinnati History Museum and all of the 1940s weekend activities. A complete schedule of the weekend’s events is available on the Cincinnati Museum Center’s website.
