A Sprawling Work-From-Home Paradise in Amberley Village

With a pool deck like this, you’ll never want to leave.

3360 Lamarque Dr., Amberley Village

Shortly after the onset of COVID-19, developers Carolyn Gregory and Jim Drumstas tackled the renovation of this five-bedroom, four-bathroom ranch and turned it into a work-from-home dream. Known for its natural beauty and close proximity to Kenwood and Montgomery, Amberley Village is often considered a suburb for the modern family. This spacious 1957 home, nestled on a half-acre lot in the middle of town, is no exception.

There are multiple entrances to the house (an amenity inspired by the pandemic-era need for home office privacy), one of which opens up to an executive office with plenty of space for work and even a private entrance for client meetings.

Just inside the main entrance, a brightly lit, tiled foyer offers ample counter space and cabinets for storage and display. The rest of the open concept living space features a unique multi-tone hardwood throughout, but the real showstopper is a wall of windows and glass doors that flood the space with loads of natural sunlight. We’re pretty certain you’ll never have to turn on the lights in this kitchen and dining area.

The extended kitchen counter offers compact space for a centrally located workstation, perfect for the whole family. A striking blue backsplash extends from counter to ceiling, contrasting the kitchen’s otherwise neutral tones of white, gray, and natural wood. While the eat-in island offers enough space for four, a built-in table extending off the island just might be the perfect lunchtime spot.

The glass-door wall cabinets are prime real estate for displaying your favorite dishes and glassware and the island cabinets and drawers are great for storing kitchen appliances. A set of glass chandelier light fixtures hover above the island, adding an elegant detail to the room. Two sets of three-panel doors are opposite the counter, all opening out to the pool deck.

Nearby, you can find a game room, executive office space, and a second entertaining space that boasts a black brick fireplace and views of the pool. And with not one, but two owner’s suites, this house is the perfect place to host extended family.

In the backyard, the massive pool deck steals the show and anchors the home with loads of space for outdoor furniture, lounge chairs, and space for kids. Be prepared to be the go-to house for summer pool parties!
