It turns out that a real-life candy factory is everything you ever dreamed it would be.
The Albanese Candy Factory Outlet Store, located in Northwest Indiana, contains basically every confection you’ve ever thought of—including but not limited to a one-pound Sugar Daddy. And the gummi section alone is a thing of beauty (Gummi Rainforest Frogs! Gummi Jet Fighters!). There are no Fizzy Lifting Drinks or snozberries or chocolate rivers on site. But we can’t have everything.
And here’s the really fun part: Most of what Albanese carries is made right in the building, in a factory you can tour in person. If you’re with a big group, call ahead for a guided tour. If it’s just you, or only a couple of friends, you can take a self-guided tour anytime. All tours are free, and include samples. Just keep your eye out for little orange men.
