Bring Some Bevs
Food brings complications: allergies, repeat dishes, and logistical issues with heating/melting/keeping things fresh. Drinks are a safer bet. Make sure if it’s beer you bring at least a six pack.

Get Decked Out
Nobody wants to be the plainclothes party pooper. If you don’t have any team memorabilia, wear a shirt or hat with matching colors.

Know Your Stuff
This is a pregame, after all. Look up some basic stats and news about the home team and the game you’ll be attending so you can socialize with fellow tailgaters.
Explore The Lot
Take a walk around and check out other people’s tailgates, too. It’ll help you socialize and give you inspiration for your next pregame. Just don’t eat other people’s food without permission.
Thank The Host
It takes effort and planning to show up early with supplies and host a tailgate for friends and fellow fans. Make sure to thank the person who put in all the work before heading into the game.
