The Queen City is no New Orleans, but that doesn’t mean Cincinnatians don’t know how to party for Mardi Gras. Get out and about at some of these events to celebrate the end of Carnival.
On March 1, 12 bars and restaurants at The Banks, including The Filson, The Stretch, and Red Leprechaun, will offer specials on drinks and feature live, New Orleans-style jazz music from the Queen City Krewe Brass Band. Sat, March 1, 4-9 p.m., The Banks, downtown
Cocktail bar Igby’s will host Date Cincy’s Mardi Gras party for singles on March 1. Formal dress is encouraged, and the bar will provide complementary Masquerade masks for guests to socialize under the guise of anonymity. Fun activities include a photo booth, DJ, and an icebreaker to help guests find their perfect match. Food will be provided by Mac’s Pizza Pub. Registration is $30. Covington will host the annual Mainstrasse Mardi Gras Parade on March 1. Beginning at 7 p.m. outside Larry’s All-American Café at Ninth and Philadelphia streets, the parade, which promises floats, festivities, and lots of dancing and decorations, will then travel to Main Street and conclude on Fifth Street. Findlay Market Mardi Gras Tasting Event
On the morning of March 2, Findlay Market offers Carnival-themed cuisine at the inaugural Mardi Gras Tasting Event. Samples will be inspired by New-Orleans cuisine, including signature items like gumbo, king cake, and beignets. Participating restaurants include Makers Bakers, Barlion’s Seafood & Poultry, Gramma Debbie’s Kitchen, and more. Sample tickets are available in a set of eight for $20 or a set of 18 for $40. Baker Hunt Mardi Gras Crawfish Boil
Beginning at 5 p.m. on March 4, Baker Hunt Art and Cultural Center’s Mardi Gras Crawfish Boil will offer participants a hearty Carnival feast to-go. The take-home dinner includes 2.5 pounds of crawfish as well as southern style green beans, cornbread, rice, and more.
