Nick Pinkerton’s feature film debut “The Sweet East” will have a special screening at the Woodward on Monday.

It’s a jam-packed week of celebrations. From Superbowl Sunday, Mardi Gras, and Valentine’s Day, there’s no shortage of things to do. Here’s a select few events to help you narrow down your list.


Monday February 12

Tia Williams Book Signing 

Start off your Valentine’s week with a discussion and signing of Tia Williams’s newest romantic novel, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde. The New York Times best selling author’s latest work celebrates art, love, and the Harlem Renaissance. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing. 7 p.m., Joesph-Beth Booksellers, 2692 Madison Rd., Norwood

The Sweet East Screening

Cincinnati-born screenwriter Nick Pinkerton is screening his feature film debut, The Sweet East, at the Woodward. This film that features Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi, and Simon Rex is described as a strange journey across the East Coast. Pinkerton will host a Q&A after the screening. Tuesday February 13

Fat Tuesday/Fastnacht

The German American Citizens League of Greater Cincinnati are hosting Fastnacht, the German version of Mardi Gras, at Hofbräuhaus. There will be a children’s parade with prizes, an adult parade with prizes for the four best costumes, live music, Paczki donuts, and more. It’s also family night at Hofbräuhaus, so there will be face painting, balloon animals, and kids can eat free with the purchase of an adult entrée. 5-9 p.m., Hofbräuhaus 200 3rd St., Newport

Sapphic Sips: Galentine’s Day Edition

Show some love to your fellow sapphics at Liberty’s Bar and Bottle for this Galentine’s Day event hosted by Midwestern Lesbian. The ladies and enbies are invited to enjoy specially curated wine flights with wines from LGBTQIA+ and women owned wineries. This free event will be a great opportunity to connect with the Cincinnati queer community and potentially find a Valentine. 7 p.m., Liberty’s Bar and Bottle Shop, 1427 Main St., Over-the-Rhine


Wednesday February 14

Barnyard Bonanza: Fuzzy Valentine’s

Animals can celebrate Valentine’s Day, too! Bring your little ones to Parky’s Farm to help them feel the love. You’ll get to see the barnyard critters up close and make a Valentine’s Day craft to take home. The Bonanza has two sessions, one from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and one from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is $5. Parky’s Farm, 10073 Daly Rd., Winton Hills

Local drag performers will put on Valentine’s Day show at Braxton Brewing Company.

Y’all Means All Valentines Day Drag Show

Braxton Brewing Company is partnering with NKY Pride for the Y’all Means All Valentine’s Day Drag Show. Emcee and NKY Pride entertainment chair, Molly Mormen, will be hosting the show in Braxton’s Loft. The event is 18+ and doors open at 6:30 p.m. Don’t forget to bring cash to tip the kings and queens. 7-9 p.m., Braxton Brewing Company, 27 W 7th St., Covington 


Thursday February 15

Plant-Rich Lunch Club

Attention all vegans and vegan-curious folks: Cincinnati Nature Center is hosting a plant-based lunch. Bring your own plate, cutlery, and a veggie-friendly dish to share with the group as you swap recipes and discuss your path to a plant-rich lifestyle. Chamber Music Cincinnati: Danish String Quartet

After having their concert canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the Danish String Quartet is finally performing in Cincinnati. The group is considered one of the most sought-after ensembles in the classical music world and had to be booked three years in advance.
