Local Meal Deals to Save on Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanksgiving isn’t cheap—whether you’re planning on cooking a turkey from scratch or providing for a large family dinner, costs can add up quick. We’ve gathered local meal deals to save on this year’s Thanksgiving.


Local Offerings

Good Plates Eatery

For its sixth year, Good Plates Eatery will pass out free Thanksgiving Meals before the holiday. On November 26, the restaurant plans to distribute more than 3,000 meal bundles to Cincinnati residents, which include chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, and freshly baked bread. If you want to assist Good Plate’s commitment to caring for the community, bring a coat to donate to its coat drive that will be on-site on the day of the giveaway. 235 W. Freestore Foodbank and the Florence Y’all’s

Got everything but the turkey? On November 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Freestore Foodbank and the Florence Y’all’s baseball team are teaming up at Thomas More Stadium to hand out free turkeys, drive-thru style. City Barbeque

The chain barbecue restaurant has Thanksgiving covered this year. Its Thanksgiving meals start at about $8 per person, including smoked turkey or boneless ham and a la carte sides like collard greens and baked beans with brisket. If you have a hankering for dessert, order the sweet potato casserole or apple cobbler. All orders are for pickup only, beginning November 19. Various locations.

Greyhound Tavern

In its 104th year of operation, Greyhound Taven is taking the pain out of cooking this year, offering complete meals deal bundles for either four, eight, or 12 people. Bundles are offered for $100, $180, or $250 respectively. Each has the choice of either apple or pumpkin pie. Sides can be served à la carte, and include corn pudding, stuffing, and sweet potatoes. Customers can pick up their orders pickup from Greyhound Tavern itself in Fort Mitchell, or at Barleycorn’s in Florence and Cold Spring. Nick and Tom’s Restaurant and Bar

Nick and Tom’s Restaurant and Bar will be open on Thanksgiving Day to serve its holiday meal deal. Act quick to reserve a seat if you plan on dining in. To pick up your meal and return home to the family, carryout options are available for $23 per person, and include turkey and dressing. Not feeling turkey? Kate’s Catering & Personal Chef Services

Kate’s Catering can provide a personal chef-crafted Thanksgiving meal for you and your family. For $24 a person, you can get turkey, three sides, and dinner rolls. For $4 extra a person, you can get gourmet sides such as sage and mushroom dressing and candied sweet potatoes. Out of Thyme Kitchen & Culinary

Through November 22, Out of Thyme Kitchen & Culinary offers its $325 Thanksgiving meal deal, including dinner for up to 10 people. Each order comes with turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, and a choice of four sides such as sausage, apple, and chestnut stuffing, baked mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts, as well as a soup or salad, and homemade bread. Tablespoon Cooking Company

Trying to cook a turkey with people for the first time can be nerve-wracking. For $130, you can order a turkey and participate in Tablespoon’s Turkey Prep Party, where chefs will guide you through the process of stuffing and preparing a turkey while you sip on a glass of wine. BB Riverboats

Want a change of scenery for your Thanksgiving meal? How about on the Ohio River? For $64 per person, BB Riverboats offers a full meal, family-friendly DJ, and a bar. The cruise is buffet style and has all of the Thanksgiving staples and more plus Kentucky bourbon glazed ham, a simple fruit salad, and cranberry orange compote. Grocery Stores

Walmart

Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal baskets include a 13.5-pound turkey, sides, and dessert for just $36, or less than $4 per person. Check out the grocer’s website for a complete list of all the foods included in the bundle, with options to pick and choose what you need extra of and what you do not need. This option also allows you to choose delivery or pickup, making the shopping experience even easier.

Aldi

Aldi’s deals are usually tough to beat, and the affordable grocery chain is not falling short this Thanksgiving. Aldi’s annual Thanksgiving deals offers discounts on holiday favorites including turkey, sweet rolls, green beans, and more. Discounted items do not come pre-bundled, requiring customers to grab a cart and shop, but a full dinner for ten people will cost just under $40, or less than $4 per person.

Kroger

Kroger offers deals on all kinds of Thanksgiving foods from its name brand selection. Freshgiving meal deals can feed 10 people for $4.75 per person. If you spend more than $25 in a purchase, then the price of turkey per pound is discounted from 99 cents to 59 cents per pound. Other foods included in the deals are chicken broth, cranberry sauce, crispy French-fried onions, and canned pumpkin puree.
