As if you needed an excuse to visit one of Cincinnati’s best toy stores, King Arthur’s Court has converted its former clearance warehouse basement into an indoor adventure park. The shop has doubled down on its existing medieval theme with a Sherwood Forest-inspired playroom. While you’re upstairs picking out Lego, Playmobil, or U-Gears, head down to The Dungeon in the basement (you can’t miss it: There’s a “torch”-lit sign over the staircase) to swing from hanging “treehouses,” run a ropes course, swing on the mini-zipline, and shoot a kid-friendly Two Bros Bows bow-and-arrow. Or, you know, shoo the kids down while you finish shopping. There’s even a climbing castle in the works, planned for the first floor.

It’s a great way to try out some of the toys for sale upstairs, but the King Arthur’s crew just wants you to stop by, hang out for a bit, and hopefully have a look around. It’s just part of the customer-focused approach we’ve seen from King Arthur’s since the beginning: knowlegable shop associates, free services like while-you-wait gift wrap, and the coolest new toys on the market. “We’re competing with the Amazons of the world,” says shop Buyer Rob Kearney. “We can’t beat them on price, but we can offer the best customer experience.”  PSA: They’ll even host a birthday party.
