Are ya ready, kids? A familiar face—well, voice—will be headed to the pineapple under the sea in October. Reds Hall of Famer Joey Votto will star in The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati’s production of The Spongebob Musical: Youth Edition.

Votto is a National League MVP, a six-time All-Star, and the only Reds first baseman to ever win a Gold Glove. He will lend his voice to the show as the French Narrator. (You know, the one that always says stuff like “three hours later?”) If you’re a Reds fan, you probably already know that Joey Votto was born in Toronto and is fluent in French, so he’ll slide into this role perfectly.

“We are so thankful to Joey Votto and his team for being a part of the 23-24 TCT Season,” says TCT Managing Director and CEO Kim Kern in a press release. “Our audiences will enjoy hearing a Cincinnati icon bring this character to life.”

If you’re unaware of The Spongebob Musical, it’s a pretty wild one. It was a huge success, with a whopping 12 Tony Award nominations the year it debuted. Nearly every single character you know from the series makes an appearance, from Patchy the Pirate all the way to Perch Perkins. Some of your favorite songs from the TV series—like “Best Day Ever” and, of course, the iconic theme song—are sung alongside original works from artists such as David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, and Cyndi Lauper, just to name a few. If you’ve ever wanted to hear Plankton and his computer wife rap a song that T.I. wrote, this is your chance. Oh, and did we mention that local TV legend Bob Herzog is playing Plankton in this production?

The Children’s Theatre’s season opens with The Spongebob Musical at the Taft Theatre from October 14-23. Tickets start at $10 and are on sale here.
