How You Can Still Score Hu-Dey ’22 Beer

It seems like every Bengals fan in Cincinnati is searching for 2022 Hu-Dey beer, and this might be your best chance to grab a can for yourself before they all hit eBay.

Hu-Dey ’22 beer seems to have become as precious to Cincinnati Bengals fans as a Super Bowl win itself. Six-packs have already hit some online auction sites and are selling for more than $200. But fear not, loyal beer-loving Bengoes—you still have a chance to get your Hudy in time for the big game.

Hudepohl Brewing Company released their limited run of 2022 “Hu-Dey” beer this week ahead of the Bengals’ Super Bowl LVI appearance. The company, now owned by Cincinnati Beverage Company, held a dock sale for $10 six-packs on Monday, and hundreds of dedicated fans lined up along Liberty Street in a queue winding down several blocks to receive a commemorative “It Is Us” six-pack.

Not everyone was able to get their hands on the highly coveted cold ones that day (I myself waited for hours only to walk away beerless and mildly frostbitten), and these special cans won’t be available in grocery stores, liquor stores, or gas stations. Instead, a small handful of Cincinnati bars have been allotted six-packs—Arnold’s Bar, for instance, held an online sale Wednesday afternoon that sold out in under three minutes.

Moerlein Lager House has cans in stock and is raffling them off in Hu-Dey Fan Packs this weekend. The packs include one 12oz. can of Hu-Dey ’22 beer, a Hu-Dey ’22 beer T-shirt, and an order of Moerlein’s pretzel buns (with beer cheese and mustard, of course).

Here are the two ways you can still get a Hu-Dey Fan Pack:

  1. Hourly raffles at Moerlein Lager House. Hourly raffles at Moerlein run Thursday, 3–10 p.m.; Friday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m.–11 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Raffle tickets are $5 for 1 and $20 for 5. The raffles will be conducted by local nonprofits Brewery District CURC and the Ken Anderson Alliance, who will receive 100 percent of the proceeds.
  2. Social media sweepstakes. Moerlein Lager House social media followers will be chosen at random to receive Hu-Dey Fan Packs. All you have to do is follow, like, share, and tag Moerlein Lager House (@MoerleinLagerHouse on Facebook and @MoerleinLH Instagram and Twitter). Must be age 21 or up to win.

Station Family + BBQ in Wyoming also has a “VERY SMALL stash” of Hu-Dey ’22 for $5 a can, limited to two cans per person. In-person purchase and pickup is Thursday from 5–9 p.m.

You can also find Hu-Dey cans for $6 at select 4EG locations this Sunday only (also limited to two cans per person). Here’s the list of those locations and times:

  • The Roosevelt Room, starting at 4 p.m.
  • Rosedale OTR, starting at 4 p.m.
  • Beeline at Newport on the Levee, starting at 4 p.m.
  • The Stretch, starting at 2 p.m.
  • Low Spark, starting at 5 p.m.
  • The Lackman, starting at 5 p.m.
  • The Righteous Room, starting at 5 p.m.
  • Pilar Cincinnati, starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • Igby’s, starting at 6:30 p.m.

While it’s easy to get caught up in the fan frenzy—especially when your favorite team is about to compete for an NFL title—at the end of the day, the Bengals are in the Super Bowl, and life is good—no matter what’s in your koozie or displayed proudly in your memorabilia cabinet. We’ll all say cheers to that. Oh, and Who Dey.
