The Bagelry Opens Third Location
The Bagelry celebrated the opening of its third location in Montgomery last Friday, September 25. The new shop, located at 11013 Montgomery Road, offers expanded seating and a more streamlined ordering experience. Signature offerings include the Queen City (fresh-cracked scrambled egg, Glier’s goetta, and American cheese), the Southwestern (Avril Bleh sausage, pepper jack cheese, jalapeño garlic cream cheese, banana peppers, and red onion), and the NYC Lox (Brooklyn-based Acme lox, plain cream cheese, capers, onion, and tomato).
Epic Brands Opens Speakeasy in Pleasant Ridge
Epic Brands—the restaurant group behind Agave & Rye, S.O.B. Steakhouse, Tokyo Pie, and Whiskey Yard—recently opened Bad Rabbit Bourbon Speakeasy in Pleasant Ridge. Located at 6112 Montgomery Road beneath Agave & Rye, the new speakeasy features an extensive collection of bourbon and whiskey, and seats 45 people. To keep with the theme, Bad Rabbit will periodically announce secret, off-menu specials through its social channels, each with a password.
New Thunderdome Restaurants Open in Mason
The Thunderdome Group will open its hybrid The Eagle/CityBird location on Monday, October 5, in the mixed-use development The District at Deerfield (5177 Parkway Drive, Mason). The Eagle will be paired with Thunderdome’s chicken tenders–only concept for carryout and delivery orders.
D’Oro Opens Next Week
D’Oro—an Italian restaurant with Argentinian influences from the owners of Alfio’s Buon Cibo in Hyde Park Square and Noche in Covington—is scheduled to open at Summit Park in Blue Ash next Tuesday, October 6. “D’Oro,” which means “gold” in Italian, will take over the former Senate space and feature a menu of with handmade pastas, steaks, empanadas, shareable dishes, and other “fire-driven” dishes.
Bissinger’s Fall Open House on October 10
Bissinger’s Handcrafted Chocolatier is hosting its fall open house on Saturday, October 10, to its new line of fall luxury chocolates, including a giant chocolate centerpiece turkey, the coffin chocolate box, and chocolate skull bon-bons. Customers will receive 20 percent off purchases of $50 or more and can be entered to win a chocolate centerpiece turkey. The chocolate shop, which opened earlier this year, is located inside the Kenwood Towne Centre.
Cincy Whiskey Fest on October 11
Northern Row Brewery & Distillery is hosting its first Cincy Whiskey Fest on Sunday, October 11. The festival will take from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Brewery District location in Over-the-Rhine (111 W. McMicken Avenue), featuring 10 distilleries and 20 whiskeys, and guided and self-guided tastings. Tickets are $50-$100 (plus tax) and include a tasting passport with samples of each participating vendor. Attendees can cast their votes for their favorites to help crown event’s best whiskey.
Suzu Opening Date Set for October 13
Makoto Okuwa (of Iron Chef fame) will open his contemporary Japanese restaurant Suzu on Tuesday, October 13, at the Madison Square development in Madisonville. The eatery, whose menu includes premium seafood, robata-grilled specialties, and seasonal dishes, will feature indoor and outdoor dining spaces, a private tea room, a cocktail bar, and Suzuné, a 12-seat Edo-style omakase.
Cincinnati Distilling and Cincinnati Memorial Hall Society Launch Bourbon
Cincinnati Memorial Hall Society (CMHS) and Cincinnati Distilling will launch a limited-edition, single-barrel bourbon called Camp Dennison: Cincinnati Memorial Hall Society. You can pre-order your bottle today and then attend the launch party, which will take place from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, at Cincinnati Distilling (203 Mill Street, Milford). The event includes live entertainment, light bites, and spirit tastings.
Handel’s to Open Parlor Next Summer
Youngstown, Ohio–based Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has announced plans to expand to the Queen City. The 81-year-old ice cream brand recently signed a six-unit agreement with Royal Scoop, LLC. The six new parlors will be developed across the city’s area, with the first slated to open in late summer 2027. The ice cream company currently has nearly 200 locations across the country.
