Mi Cozumel Opens at Newport on the Levee
Local Mexican restaurant chain Mi Cozumel opened its doors at Newport on the Levee last week, taking over the former Amador space. This location—the sixth from the restaurant group headed by couple Liliana Jaime and Catarino Espinoza—has all of the Mexican cuisine favorites, specialty cocktails, nightly cultural performances, and even a kid-friendly beverage menu with more than 40 nonalcoholic options. Espinoza and Jaime have plans to open more restaurants over the next year, including locations in downtown Cincinnati, Florence, and Centerville.
Zip’s Café Starts Its 100th Anniversary Celebration
Burger stalwart Zip’s Café kicked off its year-long celebration of a century in business earlier this week. The Mt. Lookout restaurant tapped Pilz, a special pilsner beer made in collaboration with MadTree Brewing, on July 7, with a portion of the proceeds from sales of the brew going to the Cincinnati Zoo. Zip’s plans to partner with other local breweries and distilleries throughout the year—including Great Lakes Brewing Company, Rhinegeist Brewing, and New Riff Distilling—to support charities and nonprofit organizations in Greater Cincinnati on its way to 100 years.
Camporosso on Triple D Tonight
This weekend, another tri-state restaurant is making its debut on the culinary roadshow Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, where Guy Fieri will visit “a husband-and-wife Italian joint near Cincinnati…firin’ up primo pancetta bucatini and a next-level Neapolitan pie.” Check out Camporosso in Fort Mitchell on the episode “Trinidad, Thailand and Italy,” at 9 p.m. tonight, July 11, on Food Network.

Kölsch service returns to Esoteric Brewing in Walnut Hills from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 20. The brewery’s taproom will pour the German-style ale in traditional Stange glasses during this tableside service experience while you enjoy dishes from a special German-inspired food menu.
Oakley Wines to Close Permanently
Stephanie Webster, co-owner of Oakley Wines, recently announced that the east side wine shop will be shutting down operations on Sunday, July 27. “This wasn’t an easy decision and comes with a lot of emotion and reflection,” she wrote in an Instagram post, citing work-life balance as the main reason for the closure. “The community we’ve built over the last seven years is truly special… I’m endlessly grateful to all the staff, past and present, and every single guest, neighbor, and friend who has ever walked through the doors.” Webster will continue to run the cheese shop The Rhined in Over-the-Rhine.
