Cincinnati Open Weekend 1

Competitive play is back on at the Cincinnati Open with matches featuring some of the world’s top tennis players like Coco Gauff, Novak Djokovic, and Venus and Serena Williams. Great Inland Seafood Festival

If you love fish and are ready to roll the dice on midwestern seafood, this food festival has you covered with over 50 dishes from a dozen vendors to try. Happily Indie After Book Convention

Over 140 authors will be in attendance at this celebration of indie and romantasy literature which will also feature BookTokers, vendors, audiobook narrators, vendors, panels, and much more. This year’s keynote speaker is Dangerous Attraction author Leah C. Taylor. Tickets start at $30 for general admission and attendees are encouraged to bring children’s books to donate. Cincinnati Antique Jewelry Festival

For the second year, vintage jewelry enthusiasts can peruse a festival full of vendors and collectors showing off and selling unique antique pieces. Attendees will also get to enjoy a Friday happy hour and a special presentation by acclaimed collector and seller Kim Klosterman. Courtney Barnett Concert

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett is stopping at MegaCorp Pavilion as part of her “Creature of Habit” tour. The artist best known for her witty deadpan style and songs like “Avant Gardener” and “Pedestrian at Best” will be joined by contemporary jazz singer Zoh Amba. Mountain Goats Concert

The cult favorite indie folk band is coming to the Taft to celebrate the August 7 release of the group’s 24th album, Days. In addition to new songs like “Charlie Sheen Reaches Out to the Feds,” the Mountain Goats will be playing hits like “No Children”, “This Year”, and “Up the Wolves.” Tickets start at $56. Fri, Aug 14, 8 p.m., Taft Theatre, 317 E. KWF Fun Run 5K

At the fifth annual Karen Wellington Foundation 5k, participants will run through VOA Park to help bring some fun back to the lives of breast cancer patients. Registration is $50 for adults and $25 for kids. The Taste of India

The Hindu Temple of Greater Cincinnati is opening its doors for cultural festival with live music and dance performances, educational showcases, artisan vendors, kids games and rides, community activities, and plenty of authentic food from multiple Indian regions. Summermusik: ¡Jangueo boricua! 

This “Puerto Rican Hangout” features acclaimed cuatro player Fabiola Méndez in a program of Puerto Rican guitar music as well as traditional songs accompanied by local band Son del Caribe.
