Join Cincinnati Ballet this May as it brings renowned dance companies together to showcase diversity throughout six productions. The inaugural Bold Moves Festival at the Aronoff Center will last two weeks, May 12–22. The programs celebrate longtime artistic director Victoria Morgan’s last production, capping off her incredible 25-year career as Cincinnati Ballet’s artistic leader. “The festival is a dream come true,” says Victoria Morgan. “It’s an amazing opportunity for Cincinnati to explore dance in an immersive way. The performances on stage are stellar. There are fun master classes, workshops, and after-parties. I’m really looking forward to singing along for Sinatra Karaoke Night!”

With six different works spread across two programs there’s something you’re sure to enjoy. Legendary choreographer Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs features the crooner’s classic tunes, while Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16 uses improvisation and his own movement language. Helen Pickett’s vibrant, fast-paced Petal and Victoria Morgan’s emotional Boléro are sure to move and inspire you.

AXIS performs Historias Rotas (Broken Stories), which explores our connections to the stories of our ancestors, as part of the second program May 13 and 14.

Dayton Contemporary Dance Company

Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC) is rooted in the African-American experience. A culturally diverse contemporary dance company, DCDC is committed to reaching the broadest audience through exceptional performance and arts-integrated education. The company performs the jazz-inflected Children of the Passage as part of the second program May 19, 21, and 22.
