Lauren and Mario first met at a job training course in New Orleans and remained close friends afterward, despite living in different states. Years later, circumstances changed and the two began their relationship.

The couple strayed from the traditional for their October 24, 2020, ceremony, opting to write the entire thing themselves. After researching different formats, they pieced together parts that felt significant to their relationship, creating a completely personalized ceremony, which took place in the bride’s parents’ backyard and was presided over by Montgomery Mayor Chris Dobrozsi.

“We had incredible food, great cocktails, a cozy atmosphere at my parents’ home, and we did not stop laughing the entire night,” says Lauren.
