It wasn’t meant to be a football powerhouse. The Cincinnati Academy of Physical Education—known as CAPE—started as a magnet school in 1977 in response to desegregation efforts in the Cincinnati public school system, focusing its curriculum on health and physical education in hopes of appealing to more white students.
