Bonnybrook Farms
While Bonnybrook is a 370-acre working farm, their Fall Farm Days have plenty to offer for families looking for a way to enjoy the last bit of nice weather before winter. The farm features a Farm Kitchen Cafe with items like homemade hickory smoked pulled pork, hot apple dumplings, hand-dipped caramel apples, and pumpkin pie milkshakes.

$10 or less: Admission and parking is free, as well as the farm animals, playground, and Horseshoe Hill’s 80-foot underground slide. The rest of the farm works on a ticket program. But for less than $10, you can choose an activity like the corn maze, giant slingshot, Clodhopper Golf, archery, fishing pond, or (on Halloween only) Pumpkin Chuckin’. Open through October 31, weekends only, noon–6 p.m., 3779 State Route 132, Clarksville, (937) 289-2500, bonnybrookfarms.com

Blue Manatee Children’s Bookstore
Cincinnati’s favorite children’s bookstore is Blue Manatee in Oakley. Go to browse the books or plan a visit around one of their seasonal activities.

$10 or less: Friday, October 30 is “Boo Manatee!” Come celebrate Halloween in your favorite costume, listen to some (not-so-scary) stories, and take part in a scavenger hunt around the bookstore. And since Friday is National Candy Corn Day, enjoy a sample at the end. Space is limited, so call ahead for reservations. Friday October 30, 4–5 p.m., $2, best for ages 5-7, 3054 Madison Rd., Oakley, (513) 731-2665, bluemanateebooks.com

Blooms & Berries
Blooms & Berries Farm Market in Loveland is one of the most affordable fall destinations for families. If you like animals, mazes, hay rides, pumpkins, and apple cider, this is a good bet for an exciting afternoon. Don’t forget to buy a pumpkin before leaving.

$10 or less: Tickets will cost you, but then you’re home free. Admission includes the cow train, hay ride through “I Spy” woods to the pumpkin patch, 7 Acre Corn Maze, play area, farm animals, Spookley the Square Pumpkin storyboard trail, and more. Open through October 31, Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., $7 weekdays, $10 weekends, 9669 State Hwy 48, Loveland, (513) 697-9173, bloomsandberriesfarmmarket.com

Jane’s Saddlebag
Head to Big Bone Lick in Union, KY for Jane’s Saddlebag, a perfect country getaway for families. The restaurant has plenty to offer for all ages, and The Whine Shoppe will keep the adults happy with both local and national wines.

$10 or less: The petting zoo is one of the most impressive in the area, featuring goats, donkeys, ponies, horses, llamas, pigs, cows, dogs, sheep, and even cats. Admission is $5. For an extra dollar, add admission to the new kids play area. Open through October 31, petting zoo open Friday–Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., 13989 Ryle Rd., Union, (859) 384-6617, janessaddlebag.com
