Cupcakes are no longer confined to your run-of-the-mill vanilla or chocolate varieties. Here are three local bakeries that take their cupcake creativity to the next level.

Fashion Sweet Cupcakes

Local boss ladies Brandy Goss and Steph Marcus parlayed their love of baking and fashion into an online business, ditching the corporate world to dish out runway-inspired cupcakes. In addition to their in vogue treats, they also craft boozy cupcakes with liquor-infused frostings, fillings, and toppings. The best part? They offer two-day delivery.

Abby Girl Sweets

Nathan and Andrea Thompson named their cupcake shop for their daughter Abby, who no doubt loves tasting all 17 baked-from-scratch flavors. Try Red Velvet, which is a favorite, or Double Trouble (moist chocolate cupcake filled with vanilla buttercream and dipped in ganache), which is just over-the-top decadent. They also offer a flavor of the week.

The Sweeterie

Tucked away in Mariemont above Dilly Bistro, this quaint, cozy spot showcases Susan Knabb’s irresistible cupcake and cookie creations. We dug into the chocolate marshmallow fluff, a fudge cupcake with homemade fluff hidden inside and chocolate ganache on top, and the chocolate peanut butter, which is dipped in peanut butter buttercream. Both were the perfect indulgence.
