After a hoppin’ party in 1810 to celebrate German Prince Ludwig’s marriage to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen, the happy newlyweds decided that such a fun party shouldn’t come to an end. So Oktoberfest was born. Fast-forward hundreds of years, and millions of people swarm to Munich every September to drink beer and be merry. Thankfully, Cincinnatians don’t have to fly across the world to still have some good ol’ German fun. Munich’s sister city celebrates Oktoberfest Zinzinnati annually so that we can all throw on some lederhosen and get our fill of beer, pretzels, and schnitzel.
