What’s more iconic than the thunderous boom of fireworks on the Fourth of July? The crack of the explosion, followed by a colorful light display, signifies the midsummer festivities we all enjoy. As you plan your Independence Day celebrations in the Cincinnati area, here are some of the best places to witness spectacular fireworks displays.

Colerain Township

The Colerain Township Board of Trustees and the Colerain Summer Events Committee will host its annual fireworks display at 7 p.m. on July 3. The Colerain Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular takes place on the grounds of the Township Government Complex and will include various local food trucks, live music, and a kids corner. BB Riverboats

Celebrate this year’s Independence Day with BB Riverboats a little earlier in the week. On July 3, the Newport Blast fireworks cruise will feature a boat ride, full dinner, DJ, bar, and fireworks show among the picturesque Cincinnati skyline. The three-hour long cruise from 8-10 p.m. costs $85 for adults and seniors and $60 for children ages 4 to 12. Guaranteed window seating and additional packages are available for purchase. Ault Park

After getting saved from certain death by Zac Taylor, Cincinnati Parks will be hosting its annual July 4 celebration in Ault Park on Thursday. The day-long event runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature a number of family-friendly activities. Stop by in the morning for a children’s bike parade and decoration contest, or come by in the evening for food trucks, live music, and Rozzi’s famous fireworks at 10 p.m. Thursday, July 4, Ault Park, 5096 Observatory Cir., Mt. Kings Island

Kings Island is always ready to light up the sky.. The amusement park will host its annual fourth of July fireworks display–one of the largest in the greater Cincinnati region–this Thursday. Great American Ball Park

The Cincinnati Reds kick off the first of a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers on Friday. Stick around after the game and enjoy a fireworks display in the ballpark. Memorial Park

The City of Independence, Kentucky will be hosting a two-day Fourth of July festival where you can bring the family for a collection of fun activities, including live music and a roman candle display. Spectacular Saturday will feature an Independence Day parade at Summit View Academy, live music from GenX, and Vito’s firework show at 10 p.m. No coolers or outside alcoholic beverages are allowed at the festival.
