Firelands Scientific’s New Dispensary Serves the Cincinnati Community

Medical marijuana dispensary The Landing serves the Cincinnati area with prescription cannabis at a new dispensary in Norwood. The dispensary carries a variety of products, including vapes, edibles, and flower from its own Firelands Scientific brand as well as other brands. “Every single batch of product that we harvest is not only tracked and traced down to every ounce of the oil that comes out of the product, but it’s also sent to a third party lab for potency, purity, and quality testing purposes,” says Firelands Scientific Founder and CEO Jeff McCourt. “The tightness of the regulations in Ohio as to the quality of the products is really like no other consumer product market.” This strict testing protocol ensures that each batch of Firelands Scientific product is accurately measured for the amount of THC to allow for proper dosing and overall quality of the product.

McCourt says the fully vertical cannabis company has a mission to provide patients with a variety of premium medical cannabis products at affordable prices. Firelands’s dispensaries are a way to provide access for patients. Each location has its own unique touches and pays tribute to the local community, a factor that motivated McCourt to enter the cannabis industry. His career was inspired by his mom’s experience with rheumatoid arthritis. She struggled with the effects of her condition until she found a doctor willing to prescribe medical marijuana to help relieve her symptoms. McCourt says there are people like his mom in the community he hopes to support through the dispensary, and his goal is to destigmatize the use of marijuana for medical purposes. This month, Ohio residents will decide the fate of recreational marijuana through Ohio Issue 2.

McCourt says many Ohio residents currently travel to Michigan, where recreational marijuana laws allow adults over the age of 21 to purchase cannabis without a prescription. “Patients are generally seeking wellness and access to cannabis products that are safe and

they trust,” says McCourt. “These are the most important things, from my perspective, that will come out of Issue 2.” If the issue doesn’t pass, McCourt says that tax revenue will continue to filter to Michigan. If issue 2 passes, the state has roughly nine months to implement adult use. After that, The Landing will open up to adults over the age of 21 seeking cannabis products without a prescription and will continue to serve those under 21 with a prescription.
