It’s the first weekend of December and the calendar is packed with activities as the holiday season kicks into high gear. Here are a few events, both normal and festive, to check out.


Pincinnati Pinball Show

Cincinnati’s pinball convention is back with over 120 machines and five different tournaments. Tickets door prices are $30 for Friday, $35 for Saturday, $20 for Sunday, or $75 for a full weekend pass, but show tickets don’t include tournament entry. Tournament winners are eligible for trophies and cash prizes with a special Triple Crown prize for anybody who wins all three main tourneys: Strike Out, Whodey Memorial Matchplay, and the Sunday Gauntlet. Indigo Hippo Presents ReMADE: A Sustainable Art Experience

The creative reuse center is back for its third annual fundraising event to increase accessibility and support sustainable art. The evening will feature a showcase of original works, a silent auction, performances, artist experiences, light bites, drinks, and some special surprises. Handel’s Messiah

Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s new conductor, Cristian Mӑcelaru, will lead his first ever performance of Handel’s Messiah—one of Cincinnati’s beloved holiday traditions. Mӑcelaru and the CSO will be joined by vocal soloists and the May Festival Chorus to bring the Hallelujah Chorus to life and ring in the season. Found Footage Festival: Vol. 11

Joe Pickett (The Onion) and Nick Prueher (Late Show With David Letterman) are back at the Esquire to show off their latest collection of bizarre VHS footage. The show is a mix of live comedy and videos that are unrated but recommended for ages 16+ for—in FFF’s words—nudity, language, and clowns. Findlay Holiday Market

Dozens of local artisans will be set up at Findlay for a festival holiday market. In addition to the vendors, there’ll be family activities and entertainment like caroling, crafts, jazz bands, a stilt-walking elf, and more. Rhinegeist Dad Day

Get your flannel and bad puns ready for Rhinegeist’s annual Dad Day celebrating the seasonal return of Dad—the brewery’s hoppy holiday ale. The free family-friendly event will also feature holiday cocktails, vendors, a photo booth with dad, and a Find the Pickle contest. Cincinnati Rollergirls Holiday Havoc

In this year’s Rollergirls Brawliday Mixer, the Black Sheep will take on Black-N-Bluegrass Roller Derby for a violent holiday showdown. As a special pre-show at 4:15 p.m., the Cincinnati Barbarians will take to the track for a full-contact battle with weapons and armor. CRG will also be holding a toy drive with donors getting entered into a Lego raffle. Tickets are $15 for adults or $7.50 for kids ages 3-13. Jerry Seinfeld Live

Legendary stand-up comedian and star of Seinfeld, Jerry Seinfeld, will be performing two shows on Saturday. Tickets for the Bee Movie star’s performances start at $70. Dent Schoolhouse: A Christmas Nightmare

The Dent Schoolhouse has transformed into a (still scary) winter wonderland for the holiday season with Krampus, Mrs. Claws, and plenty of evil elves roaming the halls and celebrating the season in their own bloody fashion. A Merry Winter Holiday Celebration

The Freedom Center is throwing an inclusive holiday party for this weekend’s Fifth Third Community Day.
