Cincinnati has a critical mass of great shows this week, ranging from the trials of a “Southie” single mom to a Grammy-winning soprano.
1. Good People
When South Boston single mom Margie loses her cashier job, she seeks help from a former boyfriend who’s managed to escape the neighborhood. From Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright David Lindsay-Abaire, Good People is a frank and funny depiction of personal responsibility, bad luck, and life at both ends of the middle class. 2. The Three Musketeers

3. To Kill a Mockingbird
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company takes a break from their usual Bard’s tales to stage an adaptation of novelist Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic about justice, integrity, family, and innocence. Sept 7–30 at Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, cincyshakes.com
4. Glen Hansard
Glen Hansard has conquered both the stage and screen: The Irish singer-songwriter plays music from his folk-rock bands—The Frames and The Swell Season—as well as from his Academy Award–winning film, Once. Sept 22 at The Taft Theatre, tafttheatre.org
5. Renée Fleming
Three-time Grammy-winning soprano Renée Fleming makes her local debut in a one-night-only appearance with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, performing a broad selection of operatic and pop music favorites. Sept 18 at Music Hall, cincinnatisymphony.org/Home.php
