1. Dojo Gelato

This relative newbie to Findlay Market creates 12 flavors daily from scratch using fresh ingredients from local farmers and growth hormone-free milk. They rotate their gelati and vegan sorbetti flavors on a weekly basis to ensure freshness. Check their Facebook for weekly-updated flavor selections and the current location of their traveling food truck. Findlay Market, (513) 328-9000, dojogelato.com

2. Madisono’s

Also in Findlay Market is Madisono’s Gelato and Sorbet stand, which sells homemade gelato in pints and to-go cups. Their most recent hit is the teeny tiny Tartufo. These truffle-inspired nuggets of chocolate ganache surrounded by fresh Madisono’s gelato and a drizzled chocolate shell are a perfectly portable treat. Findlay Market, (513) 772-3920, madisonogelato.com

3. Buona Terra

This sweet eatery is the city’s newest gelato fix. Though there are only 10 seats, this European-esque gelatería packs its menu with 24 gelato flavors and seven different types of crepes. Their selling point is an unusual array of flavors, including white chocolate lavender and chai, all made fresh daily by hand. 1028 Delta Ave., Mt. Lookout Square, (513) 386-9356, facebook.com/BuonaTerraGelato

4. Aroma’s Java and Gelato

If you’re looking for variety, Aroma’s is the place for you. They currently create more than 100 gelato flavors—24 in the cases themselves with many more “on deck.” Call for a list of the day’s flavors. 6407 Bridgetown Road, West Side, (513) 574-3000, aromasgelato.com

5. Europa Bistro

Though this Mainstrasse café recently moved to Covington and left its 24-flavor gelato case behind, the restaurant continues to serve nine rotating gelato flavors at the new location. Step up to the counter and order to go, or make a date of it and dine in. They’ll even give you a fancy porcelain cup. 50 East Rivercenter, Covington, (859) 261-3663, europabistrocafe.com
