Top 5 Fish Fry Dinners

799
It’s Friday. It’s Lent. You know the drill: Grab your disposable fork and plate and get in line for fried fish. And while there are dozens (and dozens!) of “fish frys” in our city from which to choose, we found a few that offer something more than just the catch of the day.

1. Saint Michael Parish
Feeling hungry? Like, really hungry? Then don your best elastic-waist pants and stop by this all-you-can-eat fry. For just $8, you’ll get limitless platefuls of fish, shrimp, oysters, and sides galore. Fridays during Lent 4:30–7:30 pm. 300 Market St., Ripley. Call (937) 392-1356 for carry-outs.

2. St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Parish
A local mainstay for more than 30 years, this fry is a full-service operation. The “drive-thru” lets you place your order and get your food delivered—all without leaving your car, thanks to volunteers from Boy Scout Troop 271. Fridays during Lent 3:30–7:30 pm. 1175 Overlook Avenue, Price Hill. For more information, call (513) 921-9200.

3. St. Cecilia Parish
This fry gets our Top 5 vote for its plethora of selection and its healthier “baked” option. The smorgasbord includes fried fish, baked fish, shrimp, fries, baked potatoes, mac n’ cheese, green beans, salads, pizza, cheese sticks (did we lose you yet?), cheese fries, mushrooms, coleslaw, and applesauce. Fridays during Lent 4:30-7:30 pm. 3105 Madison Rd., Oakley. For more information, call (513) 871-5757.

4. Silver Grove Volunteer Fire Department
Two words: frog legs. That’s what makes this fry extra special. But if the thought of nibbling on green legs makes you green to the face, you can also choose other fried classics like fish, shrimp, and hush puppies. Fridays during Lent 4–7:30 pm. 5011 Four Mile Rd., Silver Grove. For more information, call (859) 441-6251.

5. Vineyard Eastgate Community Church Holy Fish Fryday
Chow down for a good cause! Proceeds of this seven-buck-per-person dinner go to help the Vineyard’s food ministry to help feed the hungry in Clermont County. Fridays during Lent 5-7 pm. 1005 Old State Route 74, Batavia, (513) 753-1993.
