Top 5 Events This Week

Friday seems like ”a galaxy far, far, away.” Here are five picks to help pass the week at light speed.

1. That galaxy  is closer than you think: Star Wars and the Power of Costume, featuring 60 costumes from all seven films, opened at The Cincinnati Museum Center on May 25 and runs through October 1, 2017. cincymuseum.org

2. The 14th annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival brings the weird through June 11 and includes Paul Strickland’s one man musical, Balls of YarnTwo Truths: Notes on the Cinematographer, courtesy of The Carnegie, Chase Public, and The Mini Microcinema; and this contender for best title of all time, Pet Fish Are For Killing By Accident, Somehow It’s Really Quite Inevitable, from Dehydrated Mermaid Productions. cincyfringe.com

3. Perhaps the solution to the Reds’ current pitching woes can be found at the production of Damn Yankees, a musical about a baseball fan who sells his soul to the devil so his team gets a shot at the pennant. The show runs through June 18 at the Warsaw Federal Incline Theater. Bryan Price (and everyone else) can find ticket information here: cincinnatilandmarkproductions.com or (513) 241-6550

4. Adam Sandler can’t seem to shake off the ’90s. His Netflix series Sandy Wexler—about a ’90s-era talent manager whose clients skirt the show biz fringe— debuted in April, but you can also catch some vintage Sandler in his 1996 hit Happy Gilmore at Washington Park on June 7. Part of Washington Park’s Summer Movie Series. washingtonpark.org

5. Beyond the Bricks, presented by the Society for the Preservation of Music Hall, is a twice-weekly outdoor building tour that breathes life into the history and architecture of this 1878 Cincinnati landmark. Through October 28, 2017. cincinnatiarts.org
