The Northside sewing shop specializes in cool-kid cross-stitching and embroidery—you may recognize many of the cheeky (and often profanity-laced) patterns from shop owner Sarah Fisher, proprietor of Purple Hippo Stitches—and offers up this two-day course to teach 12 basic embroidery stitches. Learn everything from the blanket stitch to herringbone to something called “couching.” And best of all, you’ll get acquainted with the stitches by creating the coolest sampler we’ve ever seen:
