Thanks For Shear-ing

Shearling is big this fall—and no, we don’t just mean fluffy. Be it a shearling collar, cuffs, or full-on lined coat, it mixes well with leathers, denim, and suede. It’s hard to go wrong with something that’s comfy, cozy, and stylish.

Make it Work—Again

Much of what’s already in your closet can be repurposed for fall. You just need a bit of savvy mixing, matching, and layering.

Layers of Meaning: “It’s amazing what a layer can do to a look,” says Marsha Ashley, cofounder of Style Edit. Layer a utility jacket over a spring dress; a cropped sweater over a lightweight button up; or a faux-fur jacket over a T-shirt and jeans.

All Mixed Up: Don’t be afraid to mix textures. Wool and chiffon, lace and leather, faux fur and denim: just about everything is fair game. The more contrast in texture, the bigger the statement.

Going Solo: “Sticking with one color creates really sumptuous looks that seem like they take a lot of time to put together—but it’s absolutely effortless,” says Ashley. Try monochromatic shades of pink and oxblood, or even whites and nudes.
