A Good Vintage

Just like a vintage piece of clothing or accessory can add a touch of individuality to an outfit, vintage furniture and accessories can add depth and personality to your home décor. Luckily, there are plenty of local shops to satisfy your secondhand sweet tooth.
Object by Modology
Part art gallery, part furniture shop, Object mixes art with a well-curated selection of accessories and small furniture pieces. Look for Keith Chrapliw’s Mod-ology credenzas finished with colorful Lucite panels. 4008 Hamilton Ave., Northside, (513) 871-7000

Left Coast Modern
Tucked away on West Fourth Street, Left Coast Modern offers a great selection of mid-century modern furniture and home accessories, including the rad (yes, rad) tower light in the October 2013 issue. Call ahead to make sure they’re open as hours may vary. 323 W. Fourth St., downtown, (513) 288-2364

Hi-Bred
There’s an ample collection of clothing and accessories up front, but if you head toward the back you’ll find kitchen sets, shelving, and more. If you’re planning a summer soiree, you’re in luck: I found fantastic selection of glassware on my last trip to the shop. 2807 Woodburn Ave., Walnut Hills, (513) 240-4664
NVISION
Peruse the clothing and accessories, then head to the furniture annex for a cool selection of sofas, tables, and—my favorite—vintage ashtrays. 4577 Hamilton Ave., Northside, (513) 542-4577

Purple Chandelier
This shop is a jumble of furniture, handmade home accessories, and soft goods (pillows galore!) to satisfy your earthy-vintage-glam needs. The storefront is closing this fall, so be sure to hit the 50-percent-off sale, on through Labor Day. 649 York St., Newport, Kentucky, (859) 360-5707

Mainly Art
It’s right there in the title. Mainly Art carries fantastic vintage posters and prints, especially convenient for fans of classic rock. Wander around for a bit to gawk at the gorgeous displays of mid-century furniture and tabletop décor, too. 3711 Madison Rd., Oakley, (513) 579-1417
That Shop in Milford
If you’re drawn to the antique-y shabby-chic look, That Shop offers more traditional furniture and delicate tabletop items, including a vast selection of perfume atomizers and teacups worthy of Alice’s unconventional tea party. 223 Main St., Milford, (513) 831-0065

Home Style
Traditional furniture and tabletop décor, including wood dining room sets, display cabinets, and ornately decorated vases are abundant at this Covington shop. Be sure to head to the basement to check out the charming assortment of chairs and ceramics. 531 Madison Ave., Covington, Kentucky, (859) 261-0286

Hinge
Specializing in refinished furniture, Hinge is also a great place to find outdoor accessories, vintage marquee letters, and ’70s-era wicker (remember these chairs?). You may also come across an impromptu DIY class or a fantastically medieval-style table and chairs. 700 E McMillan St., Walnut Hills, (513) 221-1480

Treasure Alley
You’ll need to dig around a bit in this small space, but there’s always the possibility of unearthing vintage wooden drawers (great for organizing), a perfectly worn antique chest, or a collection of ‘70s beer steins. 3036 Harrison Ave., Westwood, (513) 728-0244
