Terry Owen has built Silk Road Textiles into much more than a premier fabric and yarn shop. Her Peace Corps background and global sensibilities radiate from the merchandise that lines her shelves: ethically created fabrics such as Turtle Hand Malaysian batiks, silk dupioni from India; silk and yak-down yarn from Reywa Fibers of Tibet; and Maruca fabric handbags with a pedigree that’s strictly U.S.A.
The former teacher has crafted a place for creativity, inspiration, and learning. And she has lovingly created a space for the artist and appreciator to experience colors, textures, and gifts from the local and global markets. Whether it’s sewing clothing, quilting, knitting, felting, dyes, or design, Owen and her experienced staff have it covered.
“I love supporting women artisans throughout the world,” Owen says. “I love my customers. The creative community that we have built here is just so powerful. We encourage everyone to create something amazing every day.”
