Rio Vista means “river view” in Spanish, but in Northern Kentucky, it just might mean “fun.” At least, that’s the impression you get from this 9,000-square-foot contemporary home for sale (list price, $1.4 million) in one of Ft. Thomas’s most exclusive river-view communities.
The party at this 1982 custom-built home starts just off the front entry, where you can pick up a drink at a five-seat, semi-circular gold bar. There are three more full bars on the property, by the way—one on the lower level (just a hop-skip-and-a-jump from the 2,000-bottle wine cellar), one on the back patio, and one in the pool house. There are also six garages, two master suites, and three full kitchens, one of which features an authentic eight-seat Japanese hibachi grill with a smashing river view.
The home’s master suite captures that view with 12 oversized windows. There are almost no interior walls in the master, even in the bathroom, which features luxuries like a massive whirlpool tub (roomy enough for you and two close friends), and a “four season booth,” complete with sun, rain, steam, and warm breeze features. The only second-floor space without a view is the 600-square-foot walk-in closet, complete with cubbies for more than 80 pairs of shoes.
The best spot on the property is under the covered gazebo, just off the pool deck, where you’ll find picture-perfect, cross-river views of Alms Park and Lunken Airport. “The view is just outstanding,” says the current homeowner. “The home sits on five acres, plus you’re surrounded by 15 acres of greenbelt.… It’s a very unique place.” And to that we say: Party on.
