A red metal roof and decorative iron door grates out front indicate this Mount Adams house is a little different than others nearby. A peek inside confirms that’s true. Check out the pressed tin ceilings in the master bed and billiard rooms, the wood-paneled walk-in master closet, and the wine cellar and workout room in the home’s lower level.
The home hasn’t always been this sophisticated, though. “Before” photos, supplied by listing agent Colette Dorais (see end of story), show just how extensive its renovation was, especially in the kitchen, living room, and master bath.
The new master bathroom may just be our favorite. It’s a stunning mix of walnut walls, a copper patina ceiling, a heated travertine floor, and onyx shower walls. Coolest of all? The pair of bowl sinks in front of the windows, with picturesque views of downtown—way better than brushing your teeth in front of a mirror any day.
Monastery street is the main artery for walkers heading downtown and a great place to people watch, say the current homeowners in a letter to buyers. “Our favorite part of the day,” they add, “is when the sky turns a dark pink and orange and the lights come on in the city; truly a lovely view.” To that we say: Sold! Just give us a minute to pack our toothbrushes.
