It’s a perennial problem for real estate agents—in a market that favors both old and brand new, how to sell a house that’s middle-aged? This five bedroom Amberley Village property is a great case study. It checks all the right boxes for suburban living, but at 21-years-young, it’s still old enough to be “dated,” says listing agent Susan Rissover.

The homeowners had already updated the kitchen, she notes, by removing an unused bar sink, swapping out a desk for a pantry and installing new cabinetry, tile backsplash and granite countertops. In the rest of the house they did things like replace light fixtures, swap out brass bathroom trim with chrome and apply a fresh coat of paint. Then Design to Market owner Jo Potvin helped them “stage to deliver a today look,” says Potvin. “The result,” says Rissover, “is a completely refreshed home ready for the next generation.” To that, we say: mission accomplished.
