Mt. Carmel Brewing Company

136

Mt. Carmel eagerly claims the title of “first microbrewery in town.” What started as a basement project for Mike Dewey quickly grew into a full-scale commercial operation in 2005. Their Amber, Blonde, and Stout have been available since the beginning at several east side restaurants. Clough Crossings in Anderson Township, Mac’s Pizza Pub in Mariemont, and Zips Café in Mt. Lookout were early adopters; these days they’re on hundreds of tap handles. Mt. Carmel is easily one of the most picturesque breweries around—a whitewashed farmhouse converted into a production facility and comfortable taproom where eight brews are available, surrounded by lush gardens and a duck pond. According to taproom manager Kalyn Powell, live music is planned for the spring season and the taproom and grounds can be rented out for private events.
