Why serve flights when you could offer free sips of the full lineup? That’s the logic at Great Crescent, the eclectic rustic-with-a-hint-of-steampunk brewery where Dan and Lani Valas have been brewing blonde ales, Belgian witbiers, IPAs, barrel-aged coconut porters, cherry saisons, and whatever else the season inspires since 2008. You’ll want to settle in at the gorgeous curvilinear Art Moderne bar to sample the whole spectrum. Beyond the brews, they house-make root beer, cream soda, and lime soda perfect for your DD, under-21ers, and mixing with the suds for a fresh-made, customizable shandy. You’ll want snacks before heading home; opt for the pulled chicken or pork, smoked in-house and served with sauce and slaw on a pretzel bun. Or go sweet: They make cupcakes—with beer. And ignore what your GPS tells you. For a more scenic and less complicated drive, just take 50 West for about 30 miles and turn left.
