Cincinnati Beer Week 2015: Day 2 Picks

via Listermann Brewing

Whether Cupid’s on your side or not, you’ve always got beer. Here are three ways to proclaim your love for suds this Saturday for day two of Cincinnati Beer Week 2015.

Bourbon Barrel Surprise Pre-Game Party
Get riled up for the Xavier vs. St. John’s basketball game with $4 draft pours, plus a tapping of a (not so) surprise aged beer (they’ll be tapping Cincinnatus, an imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels). Renegade Street Eats will also be there dishing up chicken and waffles. LBC Bourbon Barrel Surprise Tapping; Saturday, February 14, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; Listermann Brewing Company, 1621 Dana Ave., Norwood, (513) 731-1130, listermannbrewing.com; Free game parking in the Listermann parking lot.

Splinterfest
The third annual Splinterfest at Moerlein Lager House will feature barrel-aged beers from near and far, including Listermann’s Cranium, a stout fermented in bourbon barrels with coffee and vanilla, and Innis & Gunn Rum Oak Aged Beer from Edinburgh, Scotland, where the Scotch ale spends 57 days over oak heartwood infused with rum. And if your valentine isn’t much of a beer drinker, it’s Wyders Reposado Aged Pear, a sweet, tequila-infused pear cider, to the rescue. Splinterfest, Saturday, February 14, 1–11:30 p.m. (or until the beer’s gone); Moerlein Lager House, 115 Joe Nuxhall Way, downtown, (513) 421-2337, moerleinlagerhouse.com

Anti-Love Party
Not feeling the love this Valentine’s Day? You’ll be in good company at Holler Hops and Grill’s second annual Anti-Love Party, featuring beers from Rhinegeist, including Cougar blonde ale, Mastadon Belgian-styled dark ale, and Kohatu American pale ale, and songs about being alone. Ten percent of all sales will go to #rallyforally and Kentucky Chive. Anti-Love Party, Saturday, February 14, 8 p.m.–2 a.m.; Holler Hops and Grill, 7500 Oakbrook Dr., Florence, (859) 918-6532, facebook.com/HollerHopsandGrill
